Rovers are looking to make Brighton attacker Reda Khadra their first summer signing.

The club are looking to strengthen their attacking ranks with news that Adam Armstrong is close to securing a move to Southampton with both parties having agreed a fee.

Tony Mowbray hinted at the weekend that a deal was close for at least one player, and the Lancashire Telegraph understands the 20-year-old Brighton attacker is set to finalise a move to Ewood Park and become the first signing of the summer on a season-long loan deal.

Khadra has two years left on his deal at the AMEX Stadium having joined the club from Borussia Dortmund where he came through the ranks. He made his Premier League debut against Manchester City in January, but injury restricted any further appearances.

Khadra has featured in pre-season for Albion, impressing in his 45 minute outing against Rangers, but missed the friendlies against Getafe and Luton with a slight injury which could impact on the timing of his expected arrival.

A German winger of Lebanese descent, Khadra has three caps for Germany Under-18s and has impressed boss Graham Potter who has agreed to a loan move to further his development.

Speaking about Khadra earlier this month, he said: “You can see his qualities, you can see what he brings. He can attack the back line, he has got things to work on as he is a young player.

“But he is someone we are looking to help to try and develop and we will choose the right path in terms of what that is. But clearly you can see what he brings.”
