Rovers have handed squad numbers to 24 players ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Squad numbers 1-11 are filled by the arrival of Harry Pickering as well as Jacob Davenport (6), Tyrhys Dolan (10) and Joe Rankin-Costello (11) all switching numbers.

Ben Brereton will have ‘Brereton Diaz’ on the back of his shirt, as well as wearing the No.22 he had during his time away with the Chile national team.

There are changes too for Dan Butterworth (14), Scott Wharton (16) and Harry Chapman (17), but there are no squad numbers as yet for Dan Pike, Jake Garrett, Connor McBride and Jack Vale who have been regulars throughout the pre-season campaign.

That could well change heading into Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie with League One side Morecambe.

The 24-man squad includes four goalkeepers, with Antonis Stergiakis (41) or Jordan Eastham (45) in line to make the matchday squad against Swansea City as Aynsley Pears (13) struggles with a back problem.

Darragh Lenihan meanwhile has been confirmed as club captain following the departure of Elliott Bennett.
