Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman felt his side did enough to win their friendly against Preston North End at the Wham Stadium.

A trialist opened the scoring for the visitors before Joe Pritchard volleyed home midway through the second half.

North End goalkeeper Declan Rudd made a couple of fine stops late on to deny Burnley loanee Joel Mumbongo.

Stanley fans were able to watch their team in person for the first time since March 2020.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win,” Coleman told the club's YouTube channel. “We made enough chances to win. We conceded a terrible goal, didn’t put enough pressure on the cross, didn’t go with the man who ran, maybe Toby (Savin) on another day would have stayed where he was.

“But we bounced back well, got the equaliser and then had three or four chances to win the game. When you play at home you want to win every game. It doesn’t matter whether the team you play is higher or lower, you’ve got to have that mentality that you want to win games.

“I know it’s only pre-season and you’re still trying to get fitness, but you want to win. So I was pleased that we didn’t lose, and pleased that we haven’t got any injuries.”
