Rovers are continuing to monitor attacking options – but the likelihood of any additions will hinge on two factors.

The first is the speculation around the future of star striker Adam Armstrong who looks set to at least start the season at Rovers as a stand-off with potential suitors continues given Rovers’ £20m valuation.

The second is the likely first-team involvement for Harry Chapman next season, the 23-year-old back in the fold after his loan spell at Shrewsbury Town with a new one-year deal, and the emergence of Dan Butterworth.

There is interest in Chapman after seven goals in 23 games for the Shrews, the opportunity to bring in Harvey Elliott from Liverpool last term allowing Rovers to get the winger some much-needed game-time on loan.

That leaves Rovers continuing to search the market for attacking additions, with Tyrhys Dolan, Sam Gallagher and Ben Brereton other options in the squad, with Butterworth also pushing for greater involvement next term.

Neither Chapman or Butterworth have made a Championship to date, but there is a Harvey Elliott shape hole that Rovers will have to plug, his seven golas and 11 assists making him the second most productive player of last season, behind Armstrong.

Rovers are of four clubs in the division still to add to their squad, with midfield is the biggest area of concern as things stand.

Tony Mowbray will watch his current squad in action at Bradford City today, and a busy week lies ahead with the visit of Leeds United on Wednesday and trip to Bolton Wanderers, but incomings will be a priority with the Rovers squad short on numbers following the departure of 11 players from the end of the last campaign.

Meanwhile, tickets are on sale for their opening day visit of Swansea City. The game has been selected as a Category B game, with prices starting at £25 for adults.

Swansea were the visitors to Ewood Park in February 2020 when Rovers were last able to welcome fans through the turnstiles.

Tickets are now on sale, available through the club website, or by calling 01254 372000.

Adult tickets are £25 in the Blackburn End, Riverside Stand or Jack Walker lower stand, rising to £27 in the upper wings of the Jack Walker Stand, or £30 in the central area.

Senior tickets start at £20, £15 for Under-18s to Under-23s, £9 for 12-17 year-olds and £6 for Under-11s.
