Rovers scholar Leonard Duru is open to representing Nigeria at international level.

Duru has penned a two-year scholarship with Rovers earlier this month having already made three appearances for the Under-18s, including the FA Youth Cup defeat to Arsenal.

He was one of 10 players to agree two-year scholarships with Rovers and will become part of Mike Sheron’s side next season, and first joined the club aged 10 after starting his footballing journey with Manchester United.

Right back Duru was born in Manchester but as well as England, he can also represent Nigeria and United States, and reports in Nigeria suggest he will consider a call up for the Super Eagles should the opportunity arise.

The 16-year-old also has interest from both England and the US about pledging his international allegiance to them, with the Nigerian Football Association considering an approach.

Duru was joined by Jake Batty, Dominik Biniek, William Blease, Adam Caddick, George Chmiel, Ashley Famuyiwa, Harley O'Grady-Macken, Charlie Olson and Ryan Wilson in penning two-year scholarship deals with the club.
