Lech Poznan have announced the return of Barry Douglas on a two-year deal.

Douglas played 31 times for Rovers on loan last season but became a free agent after his Elland Road contract ended.

The 31-year-old is travelling to Poland to re-join Lech where he had a successful spell between 2013 and 2016.

A statement from the Polish club said: "He had a lot of offers from English and Scottish clubs, but decided to continue his career in Poland. Barry returns to a well-known place, as well as to coach Maciej Skorza.

"Barry will travel to Poland today, but it is possible that he will not be able to immediately join the Kolejorz team staying at the training camp in Opalenica, which will depend on whether he will have to go into quarantine.

"The only formalities left are medical tests and signing the contract, which will be in force until June 2023."

Douglas signed for Lech in 2013 after leaving Dundee United and went on to play 75 times, scoring five goals and contributing an impressive 21 assists, form which saw him earn a move to Turkish side Konyaspor, then later to Wolves and Leeds United where he twice won promotion from the Championship.

After falling out of favour at Elland Road, Rovers snapped him up on a year-long deal, but it wasn’t until the new year that Douglas started to show his best form.

He had left the door open to a Rovers return, but that never appeared likely following the addition of Harry Pickering from Crewe Alexandra.

Douglas, capped once by Scotland, returns to the club where he won one league title and one Polish Super Cup.

The 2021/22 Polish season will start on July 23, with Lech aiming to improve on last season’s 11th placed finish.
