Barry Douglas has interest from Bristol City, as well as a possible return to Turkey, or a switch to the MLS.

Douglas, who spent last season on loan with Rovers, is said to be interesting the Robins who are looking to restructure their squad after naming Nigel Pearson as their permanent manager.

The 31-year-old is a free agent after his three years at Leeds United came to an end following his season-long stay at Ewood Park in which he made 31 appearances.

Douglas has said he’s open to a return to Rovers should an offer arise, with the club having already brought in Crewe Alexandra left back Harry Pickering, but opted to release Amari’i Bell at the end of his contract.

He has previously played in Turkey for Konyaspor, prior to switch to Wolves in 2017, with Istanbul Basaksehir credited with interest in Douglas – but it appears his preference would be to stay in the UK, with links to both Celtic and Rangers having emerged, despite a switch to MLS also mooted.

Bristol City could provide a good option for Douglas, the club going through a rebuild with 11 players departing at the end of their contracts.

That includes Tommy Rowe who spent much of the season playing at left back, with first choice option Jay Da Silva having struggled with injury, making only 12 appearances.

Douglas had Championship interest last summer, before securing a move to Rovers, with Watford among those keen, and his experience of twice winning the division will present an interesting option for second tier clubs.

Bell too is on the look-out for a new club after his three-and-a-half years came to an end this summer, the 26-year-old leaving after 99 appearances.

He has been away with the Jamaica national team in the last month and is set to be involved in their Gold Cup campaign which kicks off in the United States next month.
