Rovers will face defensive decisions this summer amid interest in Tyler Magloire from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell.

Magloire has just finished a successful loan spell with Graham Alexander’s side who would be keen on signing him up for next season.

The 22-year-old hasn’t played a senior game for Rovers since March 2019 but is under contract until the end of next season, and did impress in a pre-season friendly at Leicester City last summer.

He spent time with National League side Hartlepool United in the first half of the campaign but was then loaned to Motherwell where he made 12 appearances.

Magloire will be assessed by Tony Mowbray in pre-season, along with Hayden Carter who impressed during a half season stay at Burton Albion, with Scott Wharton unlikely to be fit until several weeks into the season.

Both Magloire and Carter will have interest should they be made available for moves away, however, with Mowbray hoping for a big impact from Daniel Ayala next season.

Ayala made a first appearance in over four months on the final day of the season, just a 10th in all since signing as a free agent last summer, as Rovers endured a torrid injury record at the heart of their defence.

The prospect of an addition in that area of the pitch will open up the prospect of one, or both of Carter and Magloire leaving on loan, but with Magloire into the final year of his deal, and turning 23 in December, Motherwell may try and tempt him with the offer of a permanent deal.

“We remain in positive discussions with a number of clubs in relation to one or two players we had on loan, with a view to doing something. But these things take some time,” Alexander said of possible interest in Magloire.

“The process of rebuilding the squad is well underway.”

Meanwhile, Louie Annesley has been called up to the Gibraltar national team squad for their upcoming friendlies.

The 21-year-old, who saw the 12-month option in his contract taken up to keep him under contract at Rovers until next summer, has been named in the squad for matches against Slovenia and Andorra.

Annesley has been a regular for his country throughout his time at Ewood Park, having signed from Lincoln Red Imps in January 2019, and has been capped 17 times in all.

He will look to add to that tally when they face Slovenia on June 4 and then Andorra three days later.
