Rovers No.1 Thomas Kaminski has been named on standby for the Belgium Euro 2020 squad.

Roberto Martinez named his squad for this summer's tournament yesterday, including three goalkeepers in his 26-man list.

Kaminski had been named in the last three squads, albeit having to withdraw from the November fixtures after recording a positive Covid test, but doesn't make the finals squad.

The 28-year-old has previously been selected as one of four goalkeepers in the squad for World Cup qualifiers, but with only three permitted for the upcoming Euros, Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Simon Mignolet (Club Brugge) and Matz Sels (RC Strasbourg) have been picked ahead of him.

However, Kaminski is one of 11 players on standby, and will act as goalkeeping cover.

There is no place for Wolfsburg 'keeper Koen Casteels who had previously been ahead of Kaminski in the pecking order. Despite the omission of Wolfsburg 'keeper Casteels, because of injury, uncapped Matz Sels, once of Newcastle United, has been picked ahead of Kaminski as third choice option.

Belgium will be among the favourites for the tournament, ranked No.1 in the world by FIFA. They are in a group alongside Russia, Denmark and Finland, with their group games scheduled for June 12, June 17 and June 21.
