Dominic Samuel is on the look-out for a new club for a second successive summer after his release by Gillingham.

Samuel was snapped up by the League One side after his contract ended at Ewood Park, but no length of contract was disclosed by the Gills.

However, the club have announced in their retained list that 27-year-old striker will be released after just one season at the Priestfield Stadium.

Samuel scored twice on his Gills debut against Blackpool, but scored just once more in the league, adding three more in the FA Cup to end the season with six in 26 appearances.

It was a season troubled by injury, Samuel missing three months of action with a hamstring issue.

Samuel spent three years at Ewood Park after a £500,000 switch from Reading, scoring seven times in 59 appearances, but missed a year of action with an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury.

A Gillingham club statement read: “To those individual players moving on to pastures new we wish you every success for the future. For those remaining at the football club we look forward to seeing you on your return in pre-season.”
