Darragh Lenihan is in contention to return to captain Rovers at Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.

Lenihan missed Friday night’s win over Derby County with a groin problem, absent for just his fifth match of the season.

Rovers secured just a fifth win in 25 games without the Irish defender who has been a mainstay of the side throughout Mowbray’s time in charge.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis had partnered Lenihan for nine consecutive matches before Jarrad Branthwaite replaced the Irishman in what was his first start since the end of February.

But Mowbray says Lenihan will travel with the squad to Hillsborough so long as he comes through training today.

“Lenihan has been injured but will train today,” Mowbray said, speaking ahead of the trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

“If he finishes training, comes through okay and tells he’s fine then he’ll be travelling with us.”

Tom Trybull had started three successive matches after the international break, having missed out against parent club Norwich City last month, but wasn’t involved in the matchday squad against Derby.

However, he will likely come back into contention, with Corry Evans and John Buckley having been preferred on the bench against the Rams, with Jacob Davenport having also missed out.

“Trybull hasn’t been injured, he was just left out the other night,” Mowbray confirmed.
