David Dunn has signed a long-term deal as assistant to Simon Grayson at Fleetwood Town.

Dunn had initially agreed a deal until the end of the season with the League One club, but they have since confirmed the pair as their management team for the long-term.

Fleetwood have won four of their last five matches and sit on 50 points from their 37 games.

Grayson was installed as manager in the wake of the departure of Joey Barton in January, the former Burnley midfielder having since been appointed by Bristol Rovers.

Former Rovers defender Grayson has built up a vast amount of experience across two stints in charge of Blackpool, and also at Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, Preston North End, Sunderland and Bradford City.

He had been out of work for just under 12 months since leaving Blackpool in February 2020.

There he had worked alongside Dunn who took the Bloomfield Road job on a caretaker basis in the wake of Grayson’s departure, before moving onto become head coach of Barrow last summer. Dunn, aged 41, left Barrow in December after 22 matches in charge of the Holker Street club.

He has since returning to coaching as No.2 to Grayson, with the pair having signed extended deals and will look to kick-on with the Cod Army who last season reached the League One play-offs.
