Tony Mowbray feels the tide is turning for Rovers – helped by the return of players from injury.

Rovers earned a deserved point at league leaders Norwich City on Saturday courtesy of Sam Gallagher’s header 13 minutes from time.

That was a third draw in five matches for Rovers, and while it is now only one win in their last 12 fixtures, Mowbray says his players are continuing to give their all for the cause.

With Lewis Holtby the latest player back from injury, and a stronger look to the bench, Mowbray feels that can help Rovers have a positive end to the season after a desperate run in February ended any play-off hopes.

“I don’t think it was too different from what we’ve been doing every week, yet we’ve been losing 1-0 and we could have lost that 1-0 had Sam not headed that one into the net, and the questions would have kept coming about how we haven’t won enough football matches,” Mowbray told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“I understand that, but that’s what we are with the squad. We’ve been ravaged by injuries, but it’s starting to come back, the results are starting to come back. The tight defeats are becoming draws.

“If it was like the start of the season when we had more available then the draws would be wins and that’s football.

“As a manager I have to take that on the chin. I see a team with a great work ethic, great desire from all these kids and let’s see where it takes us.”

Rovers now head into the international break and aren’t now in action until the April 2 trip to Wycombe Wanderers.

During the break they will be without goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski (Belgium), left back Amari’i Bell (Jamaica), midfielder Corry Evans (Northern Ireland) and captain Darragh Lenihan who has been added to the Republic of Ireland squad.

Kaminski will hope to earn his first cap in games against Wales (March 24), Czech Republic (March 27) and Belarus on March 30.

Republic of Ireland also play on the same dates against Serbia, Luxembourg and Qatar, while Bell will be eyeing his first cap when Jamaica travel to Austria to face USA on Thursday.

Evans is likely to miss out against Wycombe however, with Northern Ireland’s final game of the break, against Bulgaria, comes less than 36 hours before Rovers’ next Championship fixture.
