Rovers Under-23s will be eyeing a hat-trick of wins this month when they host Brighton and Hove Albion today.

Billy Barr’s side have enjoyed a faultless March so far, thrashing Southampton 5-1 and winning impressively 3-0 at Arsenal last week to cement second spot in the Premier League 2 table and are closest challengers to leaders Manchester City.

They play their final game for almost a month tomorrow when hosting the young Seagulls at Leyland (2pm) with just six matches of what has been an excellent campaign remaining.

Barr was afforded the luxury of naming an unchanged side for the win at Arsenal, the first time he had done that in his two years in charge, with Connor McBride and Sam Burns on target.

Burns scored twice, making it six goals in five games for the attacker, but Barr may mix things up in a bid to keep some of the Under-18s scholars fresh for their FA Youth Cup date with Arsenal tomorrow.

The fourth round tie was postponed in January, but with the green light given to the competition to resume, the game will now be played on Saturday at Ewood Park (12pm) behind closed doors.

That could see the likes of Lenny Cirino, Jake Garrett, Jared Harlock, Georgie Gent and Alex Baker rested to save them for the visit of the Gunners who Rovers thrashed 4-1 in last season’s quarter-finals before being knocked out by eventual Manchester City in the last four.

One change could come in goal, with Antonis Stergiakis and Jordan Eastham having shared the gloves this season, while defender Sam Barnes is available again after suspension.

The Arsenal win was a second successive outing for teenager Eastham, who impressed his manager in keeping a clean sheet, a first in 13 matches.

Brighton, ninth in the table, have drawn 0-0 in their last two matches with Manchester United and Chelsea, and are winless in their previous four fixtures.

Rovers won the previous meeting back in November 2-1, with Sam Durrant scoring an injury-time winner.
