Tony Mowbray has been nominated for the Championship’s manager of the month award for the second time this season.

Harvey Elliott is nominated for the player of the month prize after Rovers enjoyed an unbeaten January in the Championship.

Mowbray led Rovers to victories over Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and Luton Town, with the 1-1 draw with Stoke City the only goal they conceded last month.

A haul of 10 points from a possible 12 saw Mowbray nominated for the prize, having also been shortlisted after guiding Rovers to an unbeaten November.

He is in contention alongside Steve Cooper (Swansea City), Daniel Farke (Norwich City) and Veljko Paunovic (Reading) whose sides all picked up 10 points last month.

The panel said of Mowbray: “His free-scoring side found a new way to win in January, keeping three clean sheets while accruing 10 points from four unbeaten games, including two away from Ewood Park in the victories at Birmingham and Middlesbrough.”

Despite Rovers’ defensive record being behind their upturn in fortunes, attacker Harvey Elliott claimed assists for three of their five goals in January.

And that has seen him shortlisted for the player of the month award.

The panel said: “Pace, control, vision and perhaps most impressively of all, consistency at just 17, Elliott has blossomed at Ewood Park. He provided the assist for three of Blackburn’s five goals, including a dreamy slide-rule pass at Birmingham.”

Also in the running are Matt Crooks (Rotherham United), Josh Laurent (Reading) and Jamal Lowe (Swansea City).

The winners will be announced tomorrow morning.
