LIVERPOOL have struck a deal which will see Ben Davies head to Anfield and brilliant prospect Sepp van Den Berg head the other way on loan.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate for a centre back due to a long list of injuries and the Reds have reportedly been able to land the deal at a lower price than other interested parties, with North End agreeing to sell him for £2 million.

Celtic had been asked to pay around £2.5m, while Bournemouth were told they would have to fork out £3m.

But Preston have more been willing to let Liverpool have their star centre-back, and part of the reason for that is because Van Den Berg will head out to Deepdale.

Van Den Berg is considered a player with great potential, but Klopp hasn’t trusted the youngster to step into his Liverpool side, even with their spate of injuries.
