Harry Chapman’s fine double for loan club Shrewsbury Town was of no surprise to those at the loan club of the Rovers winger.

Chapman scored twice in the second half of the Shrews’ 2-0 win at Peterborough United on what was his third start since signing for the League One side on loan from Rovers.

The 22-year-old will spend the rest of the season with the Shropshire club, with Chapman impressing in the early stages of his loan spell, not least with his fine double at the weekend

His first, a fine left foot strike from outside the box, was followed by a second of his own making, a trademark break forward finished off by a powerful shot.

Aaron Wilbraham, who has been taking the team in the absence of Steve Cotterill who is recovering from coronavirus, felt a more central role was key to Chapman’s form.

He told the Shropshire Star: He's been doing it all week in training, Chappy. I said Friday that I fancied him, he's been banging them in all week in training.

"You could see how much work he did for the team, the gaffer mentioned to me to tell him he's got to work as No.8 without the ball and work as a No.10 with the ball.

"I thought he did that down to a tee and it was two great finishes, he deserved it for his work rate."

Chapman was allowed to leave on loan having made just seven appearances for Rovers this season and only 16 since re-joining the club on a permanent deal in January 2019.

Out of contract in the summer, and having grown out of Under-23s football, Rovers were keen to see Chapman test himself in League One, and defender Aaron Pierre has been impressed with what he’s seen form the winger.

He added: "It was a great two goals that he scored, but believe it or not he actually does that in training.

"We just need to encourage him to carry on doing it, in training you see him, he hits the top corner all of the time. We just need to hope he keeps doing it in games."
