RANGERS are considering a double swoop for Bournemouth's in-demand duo Jack Simpson and Nnamdi Ofoborh.

Steven Gerrard is a long-term admirer of Simpson, who is out of contract in the summer, but will face competition from managerless Cardiff City who have already had a £750,000 bid accepted for the defender.

Ofoborh has also attracted interest from elsewhere with Charlton keen on the midfielder, who has played five games in the Championship this season.

The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in Bournemouth's defeat at Derby on Tuesday and has less than six months remaining on his contract at the Cherries.

And the Elland Road club have been handed a big boost due to on-going uncertainty at the Rams.

Derby have now enlisted agents to find buyers for a number of their stars to help balance the books.

It means cut-price deals could be rushed through before the 1 February transfer cut-off and that has alerted Leeds as contact is made via third parties over potential deals.

STOKE City are expected to unveil Alfie Doughty as their fourth signing of the transfer window.

The 21-year-old winger will arrive from Charlton Athletic for an initial fee of about £650,000 after Stoke saw off significant competition for his signature from clubs including Celtic and Rangers.

The initial plan had been to send him back to Charlton on loan for the second half of the season but that has now bitten the dust as he stays at Clayton Wood to continue recuperation from a hamstring injury.

The view is on the long-term with this one - and continues a youthful winter of recruitment for Michael O'Neill, with loan signings Rabbi Matondo, Jack Clarke and Rhys Norrington-Davies only 20, 20 and 21 respectively too.

It was thought that Murray would end his loan spell at Watford and join QPR for the rest of the season, though the R’s opted for Charlie Austin and a move never came to fruition.

WEST HAM have stepped up their interest in Bournemouth striker Josh King.

The Hammers have had an offer of around £13million for the frontman rejected by the Cherries.

Now the Irons are putting together an improved deal worth £16m in a bid to land the Norwegian before the end of this transfer window.

West Ham are on the lookout for another forward after selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax for £20m earlier this month.

The Premier League club have turned their attention to King after failing to seal a deal for Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri.
