Tyler Magloire has trained with the Rovers first-team this week, with his return to Hartlepool United not a no but a maybe’, according to Dave Challinor.

Magloire’s two-month loan expired after last weekend’s win over Wealdstone, his 10th appearance for the National League club who are keen to extend his stay until the end of the season.

Rovers are currently assessing their options, not least whether to keep Magloire around for defensive cover given their problems in the first half of the season,or take advantage of the interest in him.

Joe Grayson was on the bench for the FA Cup tie against Doncaster, with Carter having been loaned out, with Magloire adding more cover.

While they addressed their defensive injury crisis with the addition of Jarrad Branthwaite this week, manager Tony Mowbray remains in the hunt for another.

And having allowed youngster Hayden Carter to join Burton Albion on loan Magloire, who has two first-team appearances to his name, could be set to stay at Rovers, at least until the end of the window.

“It’s a difficult one as it tends to be with loan players,” he told The Hartlepool Mail, “he could potentially be involved with Blackburn. So it’s not a no just yet on Tyler, it’s a maybe.

“He enjoyed his spell and enjoyed playing for us and learning in a very demanding environment.

"It’s not a no and fingers crossed something gets done but it’s out of our hands really.”

Magloire made his Rovers debut in March 2019, playing in the win over Wigan and defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, before an injury-hit loan spell at Rochdale in the first half of last season.

He featured in just one pre-season friendly, albeit an impressive display against Leicester City, but was later loaned out after the EFL window had closed.

Magloire is yet to miss a Pools game after their midweek fixture at Halifax was postponed because of a frozen pitch. They have climbed to second in the table after a run of four successive victories and are eyeing promotion back to the EFL.

And Challinor says the balancing act will be how they long they wait for Rovers to make a decision on Magloire.

He added: “From our perspective, it’s about whether we can afford to wait or whether we should take another option while it’s there and not risk missing out on both.

"There’s no certainty as to whether Tyler will be allowed back out because Blackburn don’t know if they’ll get players in. We’ll just have to see where we are and take it day by day, if we need to make decisions then we’ll make them.”
