Carlos Corberan felt Naby Sarr’s late goal handed his side a deserved three points.

The Huddersfield boss felt his side showed ‘personality and character’ and their ability to play the game in Rovers’ half was key to their victory.

Both goals came from set plays, centre back Sarr twice finding the back of the Rovers net, his second coming in the final seconds of normal time.

That gave the Terriers a fifth home win in a row, leapfrogging them above Rovers in the standings, much to the delight of their manager.

He said: “We kept our intensity, effort and solidarity between the players, these are key.

“Second of all, we had the personality to play, Blackburn are very dangerous with the ball, so we had to take the ball, play in their half, try to harm them with the ball, to be brave and to control the game.

“We had the personality and the character to play and at the same time, we didn’t give up after they scored, and continued trusting that we could unbalance the game.

“For me, the level of the effort of the team, was very high. For me, we get three points that the team deserves.

“Knowing they will have chances because they have quality strikers, the team avoided a lot of chances, and we created options to score a second goal before they scored.

“We couldn’t stop the goal that they did, but the team showed a high level of character and personality to score the second one.”

As well as the impact of set pieces, Corberan felt his limited Rovers’ chances, though they were indebted to an incredible first half save by goalkeeper Ryan Schofield.

They were also able to play through the press of Rovers to give them a threat going forward in what was an open first half.

"We had the ball a lot in their half which is pleasing and we were good again from set-pieces,” the Town boss added.

"The first goal from a corner was very pleasing and we need to try to use all those options we have, we have specialists in those situations in our coaching team and it is something that we work on a lot in training.

"Overall I am very happy with the players. That second half was much better with a compact defence.

"Every game in the Championship is tough, the points are all important. It was important to see a reaction after a defeat and it was an important day for us. The team did really well to break their high press."
