JACK Cork is making progress in his comeback trail, but Burnley manager Sean Dyche will not rush him back into action.

The midfielder has been sidelined for six months with an ankle injury that required surgery.

Cork has returned to training with the Clarets but, ahead of Sunday’s trip to Arsenal, Dyche warned he is not yet ready for a first-team recall.

"Corky is making good progress and is on the grass with us so it is good to see,” said the Burnley boss.

"First thing's first is to make sure he (Cork) is fit and well.

"It is about having a common sense approach, he is going to need some football.

"We want him to be 100 per cent or as close to that as it can be."

Dyche is also treading carefully with his other walking wounded who look unlikely to be in contention to face the Gunners.

"Bardo (Phil Beardsley) should be around it and Dale Stephens probably needs a bit more football,” he explained.

"Johann (Berg Gudmundsson) is still touch and go and I think he will probably need more recovery time.”
