Rovers have yet more injury issues to contend with after Derrick Williams limped out of the 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough.

The central defender hobbled off with 15 minutes to play, as Scott Wharton was forced to come on, with Rovers already without Daniel Ayala who will miss the weekend visit of QPR.

Adam Armstrong was absent from a Rovers matchday squad in the Championship for the first time since August 2018, having featured in 95 consecutive league fixtures for Rovers.

The top scorer picked up a hamstring injury during the weekend defeat at Swansea City where he was substituted with 10 minutes to play.

He will be assessed before a decision is taken on his involvement for this weekend’s visit of QPR, the final game before the international break.

Tom Trybull was substituted in the second half following a heavy collision, and will also need to be assessed.

Williams’ injury will likely keep him out of the upcoming Republic of Ireland fixtures, and Mowbray said: “He has damaged his thigh muscle.

“Trybull has damaged his ribs, he is hobbling about with bruised ribs.”

Rovers have one more game to negotiate, at home to QPR, before the two week international break.

And Mowbray said: “We’ve got another game that we have to get through but we’re looking forward until after the break and then hopefully we’ll have four, five, six, or seven more players available to pick from then and we’ll see how we do.

“We’ve got some young players that can come around the bench, Magloire and Grayson have been in the squad, but not yet made the bench, and they’ll be available if we need them at the weekend.”
