Tosin Adarabioyo has secured a permanent move away from Manchester City having faced an uncertain future since returning to the club from Rovers.

The 23-year-old has signed for Fulham on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, reportedly £2m plus a 20 per cent sell-on fee, with his deal announced late on transfer deadline day.

Adarabioyo is still to make a Premier League appearance, despite his reputation when rising through the City ranks, ending his long association with the Etihad club with eight senior appearances to his name.

However, the last of those came as a substitute in a Champions League defeat to Basel in March 2018, since going on to spend time out on loan at first West Bromwich Albion and then Rovers.

His time at Rovers was his breakthrough year, playing regularly in his favoured central defensive position and becoming a key man in Tony Mowbray’s side.

Adarabioyo spent the entirety of the 2019/20 campaign at the club, his loan extended to take in the post-lockdown matches, going on to play 35 times in all for the club, scoring three times.

That raised the prospect of Adarabioyo making the grade at City, with a new contract mooted shortly after his return to his parent club as his Rovers deal expired.

However, going into the final 12 months of his deal with City, Adarabioyo future looked increasingly like being away from the club he had hoped to become captain within five years of.

Instead, Adarabioyo has joined Scott Parker’s side who are still looking for their first points of the season and have conceded 11 goals in their four defeats so far.

Adarabioyo said: "I’m very excited, very excited to get going and finally be playing Premier League football.

"I felt like the time was right to leave (Man City) and push on. It was the right time in my career to move on and hopefully get a lot of Premier League games."
