BURNLEY have signed France youth international Anthony Gomez Mancini to add to their Under 23s talent pool.

The central midfielder moves to Turf Moor from French top-flight club Angers on loan, with the potential to make the move permanent.

Gomez Mancini has not made his debut for Angers but has featured for the senior squad in pre-season games and has been capped at Under-19 level by France, playing for his country in the 2019 version of the prestigious Toulon Tournament.

The 19-year-old is now looking to make his mark in English football, starting in the U23 set-up with the Clarets.

“I have progressed at Angers on a lot of levels, technically, physically and mentally, and it’s been a good experience,” said Gomez Mancini, who started his career at Lyon before joining Angers two years ago, initially in the Under-19s before graduating to the full squad..

“This is a good opportunity for me now at Burnley and I will be doing my best here for me and for the club. It’s very important for me.

“It’s a good challenge for me. My objective will be to play for the first team and I will do my best to gain a (permanent) contract. I have been keeping an eye on Burnley’s results.

“I’m happy to be here and excited to get to know my team-mates and start training with them.”

Of the addition, the squad's sixth since elevation to Premier League 2 level, U23s head coach Steve Stone said: “We are looking to spread our network wherever it’s needed to keep improving and bringing in players to help us move forward and this is what we’ve done with Anthony.

“He’s technically very good with an excellent pedigree in France.

“We’re looking forward to working with him and seeing what he can bring to us.”
