BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche is not expecting any of his injured players to be fit in time to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night, but he is pleased with the progress they are making.

Striker Ashley Barnes has come through two Under 23s games, against Sunderland and Newcastle, but is not yet considered ready for a recall, while defender James Tarkowski, who has yet to feature this season because of a toe injury, is "touch and go".

Johann Berg Gudmundsson and captain Ben Mee joined the duo in a warm-up at Burnley's Barnfield training base today, but none are expected to be involved in the fourth round tie with City at Turf Moor (kick-off 7pm).

"They just joined in the warm-up and are not ready to join the main session yet," said Dyche.

"We are just getting them back around the group really and then they will go and work on their individual work.

"For Johann it was nice to see him at least running on the grass. He has been doing a bit in the gym with recovery.

"Barnesy came through Friday (for the Under-23s) and that is really good news and he feels good.

"James Tarkowski was out there today and that will be a touch and go one as to whether he is right or not.

"Ben Mee just joined in the warm up and has gone and done some work on his own."

Robbie Brady has been called up for international duty with the Republic of Ireland next week, despite still nursing a broken rib sustained against Leicester City in Burnley's Premier League opener.

"Robbie hopefully settling down a bit," added Dyche, who is also without Jay Rodriguez after he suffered an ankle injury in last week's third round win over Millwall.

"Jay Rod is highly unlikely to be involved this week but hopefully during the international break he will recover.

"We are beginning to get there, I still think it is going to be too quick this week for them.

"Looking after the international break I think we will not quite be at full strength, because Corky (Jack Cork) is a bit behind them, but we should be getting players back in and around it and at least in the squad and possibly in the starting line-up."
