Four players or staff members – out of 1,008 – showed up as positive in the latest round of Premier League testing for Covid-19.

Their identities are not being revealed by the league but three clubs were involved.

Albion’s club policy is to announce when they have a positive test but not to name the person involved.

Players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days.

The twice-weekly testing process will remain in place as clubs go into stage two of training ahead of a planned restart of league fixtures some time next month.

The latest results come from checks carried out on Monday and yesterday, when each club had up to 50 tests available to them. That will be increased to 60 for the next round.
