Former Albion midfielder Gary Dicker says he will be watching developments in the Premier League carefully.

But the Kilmarnock skipper is happy the right decision was made to end the Scottish season.

Dicker believes financial considerations, including the cost of staging fixtures and testing for Covid-19, made it impractical to continue in the Scottish Premiership.

He hopes teams and players can now plan for next term.

The Premier League are pushing on with their restart plans after unanimously voting today to step up training and bring in more physical contact.

Dicker believes Scottish clubs will be keen to observe how that progresses.

He said: “You can see it is easing off now. You will have go through phases as they are in the Premier League.

"You will be training in small groups and gradually building it up to full training

“We will be a good few weeks now behind Premier League teams.

“Hopefully by then we will have a better picture of things.

“If we get a second spike, which hopefully we don’t, we will know more.

“There is a risk but there is a risk doing anything. There is a risk going to Tesco at this time or going out for a walk.

“I think everywhere is getting a lot busier now.”

Dicker believes the Premier League south of the border are getting things right.

He told podcast Football, The Albion And Me: “They have gone about it the right way, pumping money into testing. They have done the best they could.

“They have tried to delay it as much as possible and slowly, I think, they will get there.

“I hope it works out and I hope they get to finish the season.”
