Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings from the 3-0 win over Hull City.

Christian Walton 7

Irvine’s shot that hit the bar apart, it was a relatively comfortable evening for the keeper. Made better decisions when to come off his line than we’ve seen previously. Distribution continues to be a positive.

Ryan Nyambe 8

Two excellent first half crosses, one which saw Armstrong have a shot blocked, the other just out of his reach. Took it upon himself to continually drive forward in to open spaces in the second and made the most of his openings.

Darragh Lenihan 8

Won nine aerial battles and made it three goals in five games when opening the scoring from close range. A few loose balls forward in possession, but looked to hit Graham with diagonals early on.

Tosin Adarabioyo 7

His passing continues to be a real standout feature of this team, helping them get from back to front with his quality. Can still become a bit lethargic at times, but working well alongside Lenihan. Headed wide from a Downing corner.

Amari’i Bell 7

His quality in possession still needs work, but appears to be gaining confidence from the run he’s having in the team. Didn’t give Maddison any space to play in and helped contribute to another clean sheet.

Elliott Bennett 5

Completed just 64 per cent of his passes and didn’t look comfortable on the left, dispossessed a little too easily at times. Fired one first half shot wide, and another straight at long in the second, but couldn’t provide a creative spark.

Lewis Travis 6

Tried to snap in to tackles as he does to keep Rovers on the front foot, and energy levels remained high throughout. A late booking after giving the ball away was unnecessary.

Bradley Johnson 6

Looked a little sluggish in possession at times, and appears short of match sharpness. His run in to the box and header from Graham’s knockdown was a reminder of his early season form. His aerial presence also helped create Rovers’ first two goals.

Stewart Downing 6

Tried to probe when cutting in from the right, some forward balls having more success than others. Looked more accomplished when moved centrally for the final half an hour. His corner was bundled home for the opening goal.

Danny Graham 6

Was picked to bully the Hull central defenders and did that to good effect early on and helped create several good openings. Couldn’t make the most of several good balls which left him one-on-one with the last defender, and his influence dipped as the game wore on.

Adam Armstrong 8

Should have scored after 10 seconds, but three shots at goal in the opening five minutes was a sign of things to come. Brought Rovers to life with a dazzling run and shot which hit the side netting just after the substitutions. Is having a goal of the season competition on his own with a stunning 25-yarder to make it 2-0, while a late free kick almost made it three. Rovers’ man of the moment.

Subs

Dominic Samuel 7

A very popular goalscorer when netting his first since December 2017 as he rounded off the rout. Added some pace and life to proceedings when thrown on.

Ben Brereton 7

More signs of life in an extended cameo for the attacker who was given the role of the No.9. A sharp turn and shot moments after coming on was followed by another in to the side netting shortly after. Good pressing helped create the chance for Samuel to score Rovers’ third.

John Buckley 6

A nice time to come on, with Rovers 3-0 up, and showed some neat touches late on.
