Many Burnley fans arrived at Turf Moor on Sunday hoping to get a first glimpse of new signing Josh Brownhill.
But they would be disappointed when the teams were announced and it was revealed that the former Bristol City captain was not in the match-day 18 against Arsenal.
The former Preston North End man arrived on Thursday in a deal worth around £7million.
Dyche explained that meant he had little time to get accustomed to his new surroundings, the first winter break that followed the goalless draw also coming into the thinking.
“I had a word with him and said don't over-think it, we have this little period which works out for him fantastically well,” said the Burnley boss.
“A few days off and he can get all his personal stuff sorted out. He is from down the road in Warrington so it is not a problem.
“He can have a couple of days’ break and then get more training time with the team from next weekend going through to the next game.
“He understands that, he has had literally one day to train with us.”
