Burnley are reportedly closing in on a deal for Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill with Nahki Wells set to head in the other direction.

Brownhill is regarded as one of the top talents in the Championship and is rated at around £10 million.

It was revealed earlier this month that the 24-year-old former Preston North End man would be able to leave Ashton Gate for £7 million in the summer as per a clause in his contract.

That means that the Robins have been more ready to do business this month for their skipper who has five goals in 29 appearances in all competitions this season.

Wells, a man in demand in the Championship after a second successful loan spell with QPR, is also on the move having been recalled by the Clarets so they could cash in.

And the club look set to recoup the majority of the £5 million they paid Huddersfield for his services back in August 2017.

The 29-year-old has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season and six in his last four games, but has not started a single competitive game for the Clarets, making just 10 substitute appearances in league and cup.
