KIERAN Trippier believes he currently plays for the best manager in the world at Atletico Madrid – but credits Sean Dyche with giving him the career he has had.

The England right back is enjoying life in Spain with Diego Simeone's side, the Argentine having won one La Liga title and and two Europa Leagues, but retains fond memories of his time with Burnley. The 29-year-old played for the Clarets between 2011 and 2015 before moving onto Tottenham.

Trippier left Spurs in a £20 million deal in the summer to try his hand on the continent and freely admits he would relish a reunion with Dyche somewhere down the road.

"Is Simeone the best manager in the world now? For me, personally, yes," he told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily.

"When people actually play for him they realise how good he is.

"Obviously you've got some good managers: Klopp, Guardiola... Sean Dyche! You've got quality managers out there but he's certainly up there for sure.

"Sean Dyche is a brilliant manager. From the first day he walked in he sorted my career out basically.

"From when I was young, stupid and going out, he just sat me down and said 'no more'.

"Unbelievable manager and I loved playing for him and, who knows, one day I might get the opportunity to play for him again."
