ASHLEY Barnes is to seek a second opinion on his troublesome groin problem on Monday.

The Burnley striker has been battling the issue for several weeks and saw a specialist on Friday.

The Clarets want more information though, with the frontman not involved in the 3-0 defeat at Chelsea despite being part of the travelling party.

Jay Rodriguez also missed the Stamford Bridge reverse having been laid low with illness, Robbie Brady another absentee due to a calf problem.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s latest hamstring injury also continues to be assessed. Phil Bardsley was however on the bench having been unwell in the week.

“Jay Rod has been ill and Bardo only trained yesterday morning after four days of illness,” Dyche said after a fourth straight Premier League defeat against Frank Lampard’s side.

“Barnesy we will find out more about. Johann is settling down his hamstring and we are not sure on that one, we will have to wait and see. Robbie has a calf (problem) so he will probably be back on the grass hopefully this week.”

A spate of injuries has come at just the wrong time for Dyche who is looking to turn around his side’s fortunes.

“I don't want to start crying all that in, it is not ideal,” the Clarets boss said.

“We had a clutch of injuries four or five weeks ago which was difficult to take and we have had a clutch now and a couple of illnesses this week and that is the way it goes.

“That is why you have a squad.”

Dyche reported Chris Wood was okay after a clash of heads at Stamford Bridge left him bleeding from the nose.
