Scott Sinclair has signed for Preston North End – and could make his debut against Rovers this weekend.

The attacker has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Deepdale and joins on a permanent deal from Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

Sinclair scored 62 goals in 167 appearances having joined from Aston Villa in 2016, but he has found himself out of favour this season, playing just seven times in all competitions.

Preston will arrive at Ewood Park 10th in the table, two points outside the play-offs, and Neil believes the 30-year-old will prove to be a shrewd  addition.

He told his club’s website: “I am delighted.

“The season until this point has been good, in terms of getting us into that top six contention, but we have needed to strengthen and add a little bit of knowhow and experience in certain areas.

“Scott is someone we have been interested in, and we have coveted before, and now that we have got him across the line, I am hoping that he will add that bit of quality and experience that we need.”

Sinclair came through the ranks at Chelsea and has played for 12 clubs in all.

He scored 27 goals in the 2010/11 season to help Swansea win promotion from the Championship, scoring a hat-trick in a play-off final win over Reading.
