Rovers will have a blank weekend on FA Cup fourth round weekend after scheduled opponents QPR made it through their round three tie.

The Rs thumped fellow Championship side Swansea City 5-1 on Sunday to book their place in round four.

Mark Warburton’s side were due at Ewood Park on January 25, but with Rovers having exited the competition following a 2-1 defeat at Birmingham City, and Rangers booked their place in round four, the match will need to be rescheduled.

The Birmingham defeat was a fifth game in 13 days for Rovers, but they will now play just twice more in the month of January.

They host Preston North End on January 11 before a trip to Sheffield Wednesday seven days later. Their next scheduled game after that will be a trip to Middlesbrough on February 1.

QPR, who beat Rovers 4-2 in October, have been in fine form of late, scoring six in a win over Cardiff City on New Year’s Day and then running in to a 3-0 half-time lead.

Swansea pulled one back in the second half but two more goals, including a Josh Scowen strike, booked their place in round four.

The fourth round draw will take place on Monday night.
