SEAN Dyche says it is “highly unlikely” that senior players will leave Burnley during the January transfer window.

Having indicated any incomings before the end of the month were “unlikely” the Clarets boss said likewise when asked about speculation surrounding Ben Gibson and Joe Hart after the 4-2 win over Peterborough.

The former has been linked with loan moves to Germany while the latter, who made just his second appearance of the season in the FA Cup win, is reportedly a target for Aston Villa after Tom Heaton was ruled out for the season.

"We've been linked with a lot, a player for £21m? Must be the wrong club, a typo,” Dyche said.

"Joe seems alright to me, he performed like he wasn't frustrated, he performed with a clear-mindedness, very good pro, good around the group, I was impressed with him.

“It is highly unlikely that anyone leaves and if they are leaving there will be a reason why that fits either our club or why we can affect that situation.”

In terms of potential new arrivals, Dyche insisted it was a case of getting the right players at the right price, something that is traditionally difficult in January.

“It is not just about budgets although they are a big thing here,” he said.

“It is about players that fit into those budget lines and therefore fit into the team and the position.

“We have been through it many times and it is not easy and I don't think it will be an easy window yet again.”
