Burnley cruised through to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 4-2 win over League One Peterborough at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Jay Rodriguez scored twice with Erik Pieters and Jeff Hendrick on target for a Clarets side showing eight changes from the New Year’s Day Premier League defeat against Aston Villa.

Joe Hart 7

Had little to do all afternoon and was left stranded for the first goal by Matt Lowton’s back header. Also had no chance with the second.

Matt Lowton 6

Started strongly in an attacking sense but it was a horrible error for the first goal which led to a nervy finish to the half. Settled in the second but not always convincing.

James Tarkowski 7

Leader of a much-changed backline was tasked with keeping an eye on the prolific Ivan Toney and Mo Eisa which he did with the minimum of fuss.

Kevin Long 6

Rare chance to impress and was hit and miss. One surging run from the back was halted by a high Reece Brown challenge in the second half before a sloppy pass nearly let Posh in.

Erik Pieters 7

Enjoyed space down the left from the off and produced a fine hit from 25 yards for his first Burnley goal. Clearance off the line nearly prevented goal in the second half.

Aaron Lennon 8

Busy and always a threat, his header set up the opening the goal after the initial cross had been partially cleared before fine pass released Rodriguez for the fourth.

Jack Cork 7

Captain for the day had a comfortable afternoon in the middle of the park ensuring the Clarets kept ticking over.

Jeff Hendrick 7

Shot was on target for his goal but deflection gave it a huge helping hand.  One embarrassing mis-control set visitors away in the second half before hitting the woodwork with a late free-kick.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson 8

A really welcome return and the Icelander did not disappoint. Brings quality in wide areas and from set pieces. A concern however seeing him leave the field at the break.

STAR MAN: Jay Rodriguez 8

Alive from the off and was in the right place in the right time to take his first goal before getting a clinical second. Now time for a regular run in the league?

Chris Wood 6

Should have scored in the move that saw Rodriguez get his first goal and largely struggled to get into the game before being replaced midway through second half with a knock.

Charlie Taylor 7

On for JBG at the interval, interchanged with Erik Pieters on the left-hand side and showed his customary industry.

Matej Vydra 6

Some nice touches but didn’t influence the game how he would have liked, one nice pass for Lennon aside.

Ashley Westwood 6

On for the closing stages in place of Jack Cork and had little chance to get on the ball.
