FORMER Burnley keeper Tom Heaton has been ruled out for the season after being carried off in Aston Villa’s win at Turf Moor on New Year's Day.
The long-time Clarets favourite was injured trying to keep out Chris Wood’s header 10 minutes from time and taken off on a stretcher to an ovation from all sides of the ground.
Now it has been confirmed he has suffered a serious knee injury which means he is almost certain to miss England’s Euro 2020 campaign this summer.
Since his £8 million summer move from Turf Moor to Villa Park, Heaton has only missed one Premier League game for his new employers, making 20 appearances in all.
Villa have also confirmed that Brazilian striker Wesley, injured in a firm but fair tackle from Ben Mee, will also be out for the season.
