EDDIE Howe concentrated on his own side’s failings rather than criticise Burnley after the Clarets condemned Bournemouth to a third straight home defeat.

Jay Rodriguez’s late goal saw Sean Dyche’s side prevail 1-0 in a game that will not live long in the memory.

Dominated by poor conditions and bad tempers, the home faithful at the Vitality Stadium were unhappy with the Clarets’ perceived physical approach.

On the flipside, Danish midfielder Philip Billing was fortunate to escape a red card in the second half for swinging an arm at Ashley Barnes who had earlier left Cherries captain Simon Francis needing to be bandaged up after catching up with a high boot.

"That's always how these games go against Burnley, I think that's in part how they play and they are very good at what they do, there's no criticism there, they're very strong," said Howe, Dyche’s predecessor as Turf Moor boss.

"But it's more when we had the ball, we have to do more.

"There were a lot of free-kicks. From their side, that's part of how they play, that's what they try and create.

"We had to try and navigate our way through that better than we did, so it's another lesson learnt."
