BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche is hoping to welcome back two key men for Newcastle’s visit to Turf Moor on Saturday.
Ashley Barnes and Ashley Westwood returned to training on Thursday and are in line to return.
Phil Bardsley is set to join the group on Friday but the game is set to come too soon for Charlie Taylor, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Kevin Long.
Jay Rodriguez has broken a little finger and Chris Wood has a knock but both are likely to be fit enough to face the Magpies.
“Barnesy got out training today, and so did Ashley Westwood. We’ve got to see how they react to that but we’re hopeful on those two,” said Dyche at his pre-match press conference.
“Behind that, Bardo might get out there tomorrow. Charlie Taylor is tough and go and we’ll probably edge on the side of caution.
“Johann’s had a good week on the grass with us, so we’ll enter him back into a games programme next week. He won’t be ready immediately but we’ll get him playing. That’s good.
“Kevin Long is making progress but won’t feature at the weekend.
“Woody’s carrying a bit of a knock but we expect him to be okay.
“Jay Rodriguez broken his little finger and got a splint on it to protect it.”
