British boxer Omar Dusary suffered his first professional defeat in a brave display today.

With only three weeks notice and moving up two weight categories it was always going to take something spectacular to beat Saudi Arabian Zuhair Al Qahtani for the Lightweight Middle East title.

Omar, 25, was fighting on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jnr rematch in Saudi Arabia tonight. Joshua is looking to reclaim his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO world titles against Mexican Ruiz.

Dusary of Blackburn fought valiantly and despite taking some heavy blows he looked every part an international boxer throughout the eight rounds.

Omar Dusary had won seven out of his first eight fights and was up against the more experienced  Zuhayr Al Qahtani (PA/Nick Potts)

Dusary who only came to the UK at the age of 12 not knowing how to speak English. He went to pursue a degree and gained a masters in engineering.

After fighting a competitive 8 rounds against the Saudi Born boxer he was unfortunate to leave the ring without the belt.

As a citizen of blackburn what I observed throughout the build up to the fight and post fight everybody had nothing but praise to sing for Omar ‘Lion Heart’ Dusary.

You came, you saw and you definitley conquered the hearts and the inspiration of every individual. Take this chapter in your book as ‘The Inspiration’ because you have fuelled the desire for everyone of us to go and pursuit success in anything we do.

I know this isn’t the last we’ve heard of Omar and he is deemed for success in the ring in the near future.
