Rovers were last out of the hat as they were handed an FA Cup third round tie at Birmingham City.

Burnley, drawn one tie earlier, were given a home tie with League One side Peterborough United.

Tony Mowbray's side are on the road to face their Championship rivals, having lost at St Andrew's 1-0 in October.

For the Clarets, it's a first meeting with Posh in six years.

Ties will be played on the weekend of January 4.

Rovers were beaten by Premier League side Newcastle United in round three last year. The sides drew 1-1 at St James' Park before the Magpies won 4-2 at Ewood Park after extra time in the replay.

Burnley meanwhile, were knocked by Premier League champions Manchester City in each of the last two seasons, losing in round four in 2019 and in the third round 12 months earlier.

Accrington Stanley were knocked out in round one by Crewe Alexandra.

The draw was conducted at the Etihad Stadium by Micah Richards and Tony Adams. Thirty-two ties in all were drawn.
