Rovers will be able to call on the services of Lewis Travis for this weekend’s visit of Huddersfield Town – with Sam Hart also in contention to feature in a matchday squad for the first time in 14 months.

Travis missed the QPR defeat with a minor hamstring injury but has trained ahead of the Terriers visit to push his claims for a recall.

Rovers will run the rule of Derrick Williams today, with the defender due back at Brockhall after his international commitments with Republic of Ireland.

Tony Mowbray is without Greg Cunningham and Darragh Lenihan (both knee) for the foreseeable future, with Ryan Nyambe another set to return to the squad after not being involved against QPR.

Hart isn’t part of the Under-23s squad travelling to Crystal Palace for today's Premier League Cup group game despite having been a regular for Billy Barr’s side since returning from a hamstring injury.

He hasn’t played for Rovers since December 2017, having had three separate spells on loan, and hasn’t been in a matchday squad since the August 2018.

Hart impressed for Rovers in pre-season, only to pick up a hamstring injury in the pre-season win at Bury.

He has played five times for the Under-23s to boost his fitness, and while Amari’i Bell is expected to fill the vacancy at left back, opened up by Cunningham’s injury, Hart has a chance of making the matchday 18.

Nyambe travelled to QPR, but wasn’t in the matchday 18, and is the more likely defensive option on the bench should Adarabioyo and Bell get the nod to start in the back four, but Hart could feature should Mowbray opt for more cover at the back.

The 22-year-old, who signed for the club in the summer of 2017, finished last season with Southend after two previous loan spells with Rochdale.

Rovers Under-23s were due to travel to Chigwell Construction Stadium, home of Dagenham and Redbridge, to face Palace earlier this month, only for the game to be re-arranged because of a waterlogged pitch.

Barr will take his side south this afternoon (1pm) for the first of six round-robin group games.

Harry Chapman and Jacob Davenport, who has been training with the first-team during the international break, are both part of the travelling party as Rovers looking to get this season’s competition off to a winning start.

Travis will offer Mowbray more options in midfield, with Stewart Downing and Corry Evans, who featured in both games for Northern Ireland during the international break, having been paired together at QPR.

Evans started in the last-gasp defeat at the Netherlands, playing 86 minutes, before being a second half substitute in the win over Czech Republic on Monday evening.
