West Brom made a move for Bradley Dack last season, Graeme Jones has revealed.

The Luton boss pinpointed Dack, who has scored in each of his last three matches, as a key man in tomorrow’s game at Ewood Park.

And Jones, assistant at West Brom under Darren Moore last season, said so impressed was he was with Dack that the Baggies made a move for the attacker last summer.

Rovers made clear they weren’t willing to sell Dack, who signed a new three-year deal last summer, and he went on to score 18 goals to help Rovers to finish 15th in the table.

Jones, who took over at Kenilworth Road this summer, is hoping his side can end their three match losing run when the teams meet at Ewood Park, but is wary of Rovers’ threats, including four-goal forward Dack.

“Me and Darren (Moore) at West Brom put an offer in for Dack, so we recognised his qualities,” Jones told Luton Today.

"There’s very few with that natural ability who plays the 10 as well as he does, but it’s not just him.

"(Stewart) Downing’s got great Premier League experience, (Sam) Gallagher they signed for, I don’t know how much, they’ve got lots of threats.

"My job is to stop their threats and try to exploit their weaknesses and the process is still ongoing.”

"They’re a very well-rounded team.

"They’re very good in lots of areas, but obviously we need to make sure we’re competitive, we need to make sure we’re ready for it.

"Going into the game and being well organised, giving everything you’ve got, showing your opponent no respect makes it a great leveller.

"That’s what we’ll be trying to do on Saturday."
