JOHN Coleman blasted the ‘idiots’ who threw objects onto the pitch – including a flare – in Stanley’s 1-1 draw with Blackpool and called for action to be taken.

Plastic beer bottles were also launched in the direction of Reds ‘keeper Dimi Evtimov 10 minutes into the second half.

The incident followed the Bulgarian’s red card in the meeting between the sides at the Wham Stadium last season.

The 26-year-old was dismissed in March for sending a bottle back into the crowd after visiting fans celebrated Jay Spearing’s late penalty.

On this occasion Evtimov kept his cool, handing items back to stewards, but it left Coleman fuming, the Stanley boss fearing a potential injury if the problem is not dealt with.

He said: “It shouldn’t happen, should it?

“That’s something that’s got to be addressed. They can’t do that everywhere they go.

“We knew it was going to happen because they got rewarded for it last year (with Evtimov being sent off). That’s wrong.

“It was an absolute certainty it would happen today and we told the referee before the game.

“Something’s got to be done because someone’s going to get hurt. He could be getting hit by a firework or a flare on the back of the head.

“There’s no place for that in football. They’ve got a tremendous following Blackpool, the vast majority are well behaved and support the team really well.

“There’s a couple who you can only describe as ‘idiots’ and they’re spoiling the reputation of their fans who come and support their side in numbers and get behind their team really well.”

Stanley were leading 1-0 at the time of the delay but saw a Curtis Tilt own goal just after the quarter hour cancelled out by Matty Virtue’s goal two minutes into stoppage time.
