While fans have had time to study Rovers’ upcoming fixtures during the break from action, Greg Cunningham is very much of the one game at a time mindset.

Rovers host Millwall on Saturday on their return to Championship action, the first of four Ewood matches in their next six.

Tony Mowbray’s side had a tough opening set of six fixtures but have a more favourable run, on paper, up until the next break in October.

Three international matches in the opening three months breaks the opening to the season down in to blocks of games, but the focus of full back Cunningham is just on the next game.

He said: “That’s the way you look at it, but I’m a firm believer about not looking too far ahead with fixtures.

“We’re just focused on Millwall and trying to get the job done and move on to the next game.

“The international breaks in September, October and November really breaks down the season up towards Christmas and then you can see where you’re at.”

Rovers picked up seven points from a possible 18 to start the season which leaves them in 17th.

But the Cardiff loanee says there is enough quality in to the squad to put a run of results together and start climbing the table.

He added: “With the squad we have I don’t see why we shouldn’t be putting in top performances.

“The way the Championship goes it’s a very competitive league so we have to make sure our performances remain high and the results will come.

“We’re very confident of that.

“The boys did well in getting promoted from League One and then again last year but it’s time to move on and start pushing up the league.

“We are all buying in to what this club wants to do, working hard and will take each game as it comes.”
