West Brom boss Slaven Bilic has injury issues to contend with at left back ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Rovers.

Kieran Gibbs was forced off in last weekend’s draw at Derby while other specialist left back Conor Townsend is also struggling for fitness.

Darnell Furlong and teenager Nathan Ferguson are the options at right back, and one could be forced to move across to their other side of the pitch, or Bilic could opt to play club captain Chris Brunt in a more defensive role.

Asked for the latest on his squad ahead of tomorrow’s game, Bilic told his press conference: “It looks okay, but we do have a slight problem.

“It’s a left-back situation. Kieran Gibbs got injured at Derby, it’s an old injury that he’s had with his groin. It’s nothing major but it’s big enough to rule him out for a few weeks.

“And Conor Townsend also felt something. It’s a matter of days. He’s the guy that didn’t miss one game last season, he was available for every game. If the game was in a couple of days time then he would be okay, but unfortunately it isn’t.

“But we have Chris Brunt, who is a major player and club captain.

“I spoke to him and he played left-back in the Premier League. He has a great cross, a great left foot, so we are okay."

Bilic is still waiting for his first home win since taking charge, having drawn each of his two Hawthorns games so far, against Millwall and Reading, with their two wins coming on the road, at Nottingham Forest and Luton.

They were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the first round by Millwall, but are unbeaten in their five league matches so far.

Bilic wants to continue that in to the international break, but is targeting a first home win and says his players are in confident mood.

He added: “We all want it, of course. We are playing good but we want to win at home.

“Nothing is easy in this league, or in any league to be fair. We are confident, we respect the opponent.

“We are confident because we are playing good. In both of those home games we were the side with more possession, more chances and more shots. We need to convert those chances and we need a little bit of luck. We are looking forward to the game tomorrow.”
