Defending champions Blackburn Rovers will meet Accrington Stanley in the first round of the Lancashire Senior Cup.

Rovers won the competition back in May with victory over Burnley at the Lancashire FA headquarters thanks to goals from Hayden Carter and Jack Vale.

That was a record 19th success for Rovers in the competition which began in 1879/80.

Rovers progressed in to the final with victory over Stanley at Brockhall after the sides shared a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

John Coleman’s side will be looking to seek revenge for that defeat in the first round of the 2019/20 competition, with ties scheduled to be played before the end of September.

Beaten finalists Burnley start their competition with a home game against League One side Fleetwood Town.

The pair met in a pre-season friendly in July, with Burnley coming out on top against Joey Barton’s men.

Fleetwood are no strangers to reaching the latter stages of the competition, despite never lifting the trophy, with runners-up medals in 2016 and 2017, both on penalties.

After winning promotion to the National League last season, Chorley have been elevated to the Senior Cup having previously been competing in the Challenge Cup.

They have been handed a home draw against Championship outfit Preston North End who were unable to field a team in round one of last season’s competition against Rovers and forfeited the match.

Elsewhere, Blackpool host Everton, the second Premier League side to be involved in the competition.

Barrow host League Two side Oldham Athletic, while Bolton will face Wigan Athletic.

There are eight ties in all, with Bury, winners in 2018, hosting AFC Fylde, while Morecambe will face Rochdale.
