Rovers have signed Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a season-long loan deal.

Adarabioyo is the club’s fifth summer signing following on from Stewart Downing, Bradley Johnson, Sam Gallagher and Christian Walton.

Negotiations have been long and drawn out, but Rovers have remained confident throughout of sealing the deal.

In signing, Adarabioyo becomes the first defender through the door.

The 21-year-old spent last season with West Bromwich Albion, playing 36 times as the Baggies were beaten in the Championship play-offs by eventual winners Aston Villa.

Adarabioyo played much of his football for West Brom as a right full back but is naturally a central defender.

He started 21 Championship matches for Albion last season, making a further eight appearances off the bench, including both against Rovers last season.

Adarabioyo signed his first professional contract with City in 2014 and has two years left to run on the deal he signed in 2017.

He made his debut for City in an FA Cup tie at Chelsea aged just 18, and although yet to make his Premier League debut, he has featured in four Champions League and three EFL Cup ties since.
