In the first Under 21s AMT Lawyers Football Championships Blackburn United and Fishwick Rangers came through two hardly fought matches.
In presistant rain the first game saw Blackburn United take on Prestwich Marauders who competed in an entertaining first half which could have ended 3-3. However, Blackburn United managed to go in 3-1 up.
Prestwich could count them unlucky not to have got a second. A swift counter-attack saw them score but then the referee pulled play back on advice of his assistant after realising the call had gone of play.
In the end United proved to be far more lethal in front of goal.
United went to score two more in the second half and Prestwich did manage to get a second from a penalty.
The second game saw Fishwick Rangers overcome ASC Face 2-1. Fishwick went ahead and could well have made it two after starting the stronger.
Face came back strong in the second half and got a deserved equaliser straight from the corner. They went to hit the bar and then were forced to play with ten men.
It was harsh on Face who battled on but Fishwick made it 2-1 with 20 minutes to go.
