Norwich City may be in party mode at Carrow Road tomorrow night, but Tony Mowbray wants to create nerves and anxiety in the home stands.

The Canaries need just a point to guarantee promotion to the Premier League and could also clinch the Championship title tonight (7.30pm) should results go their way.

Rovers are no strangers to celebratory scenes, having won promotion back to the Championship 12 months ago this week.

They will be the B-side this time around, but Mowbray knows there is plenty still to play for as his side aim to build on their run of four consecutive wins.

“We want to try and finish the season as strong as we can,” Mowbray said.

“We had a difficult couple of months but have come out of that and are trying to finish as strong as we can.

“Norwich away, they want to finish as champions if they can get the results they want, but we want to go there and compete.

“It’s live on television, in front of a national audience, we want to go and try and give a good account of ourselves. We’re in a decent run of form, don’t fear anyone in the league.

“I think it’s an opportunity for us to show everyone how well we’re doing at the minute, how many good players we’ve got and that we can cause teams problems.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge of it. It will an amazingly colourful spectacle.

“Their support will be expecting it to be their promotion night and we know how exciting those nights are, we had that at Doncaster.

“They’ll be excited but we have to go and play, give them problems, ask lots of questions, make them nervous, anxious and see how the night goes.”

Rovers were beaten 1-0 in the reverse fixture as the division’s top scorer, Teemu Pukki, settled a tight game with four minutes to play.

Midfield duo Corry Evans and Richie Smallwood were booked in a first half that saw two Norwich players limp off injured, as a fractious affair developed at Ewood Park.

Mowbray doesn’t foresee a similar game unfolding this time around, but knows his side will need to be up for the challenge against Daniel Farke’s side who are averaging more than two goals a game this season.

“I’ve re-watched our game with them earlier in the season,” Mowbray added.

“We had some chances that day, lost 1-0 late on.

“It did become a bit physical. We played Evans and Smallwood in midfield and the game was stop-start.

“It was pretty physical, whether it’ll be the same we’ll wait and see.

“They will have an intensity and we will have to try and match that.

“We have to make it a difficult day for them.”
